I recently heard the above phrase, which amused me a lot. But the fact that history rhymes is not much fun. Some rhymes sound very disharmonious.
One of them refers to the expulsion of Roma from France. I always wondered how it was possible for the Jews to be so persecuted during the Second World War. Even if, let's say it wasn't the Holocaust (I am sure that this subject should be studied, although I have a certain opinion about people who deny this phenomenon), The Jews were subjected to unimaginable humiliations. Let's say that no people died in the camp, that Mengele's medical experiences did not exist, even so, the simple fact of being driven from their own homes, dismissal, sent to unskilled jobs (cleaned the snow in Romania) it's still enough for us to be new, Europeans, very shame.
I always wondered how their neighbors were, the business partners did not make a scandal, they accepted such misery. I like to think that I would have behaved differently then. Maybe I would end up with them, as I see, at least in some countries. But what do I do now?, when citizens of the European Union are DEPORTED? That's the word, DEPORTATION, for what is happening to the Roma from Romania and Bulgaria?
Unfortunately, I didn't think of this word, which I don't remember hearing on TV. No wonder, because politicians are like journalists, death. You buy their words like a telegraph. I did not hear the Romanian politicians revolting, I didn't even hear the humanist associations rebelling. More, I hear that demonstrations are being prepared for the move (temporarily) of the statues in University Square, but the forced relocation of some citizens of the Union does not matter.
I will not pretend that I am not ashamed to be Romanian, considering what is happening in our politics. But with a southern figure, you have nowhere to hide your identity, the countries of the south are not at all praiseworthy from a social and political point of view. But I ended up being ashamed of belonging to the European Union, when a founding country has such an attitude. We can say something about Putin, with all his abuses? Sarkozy and the government can rather be put together with Stalin and Hitler. History has now turned 70 years, when undesirable people were loaded into wagons and taken either to concentration camps or to Siberia. Stalin also deported entire peoples (The Tatars), not only "enemies of the people". In fact, after the expulsion of the Roma, I think that the European Union can no longer teach democracy lessons to anyone.
The Roma are a problem of the European Union. But there are only advantages in its foundation? The labor force, sales markets? There are also problems... That is, when it doesn't suit us, we take our toys and leave? This is no longer a question of political impotence, Sarko and the French government should repeat kindergarten.
But what should we do?, the people on the street? What should intellectuals do?? Who else buys Dacia or other French products?? But history rhymes, everything goes ahead.
